In May 2022, we wrote to BC’s Ministry of Housing asking them to assist with establishing more sites for depositing clean fill (not construction waste) from new housing excavations. Rising excavation costs are adding thousands of dollars to the price of new homes. Some builders are hauling loads past Duncan, taking several hours for a single round trip.

They passed our letter off to the  Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy who responded with an email lecture on the importance of recycling and climate change.

If British Columbians are expecting this government to get a handle on rising housing prices, it is unlikely to be accomplished by politicians and bureaucrats clearly lacking any understanding or appreciation for the industry’s real-world challenges.
