The importance of education and training in today’s residential construction industry can’t be overstated.
Ongoing changes to the building code, materials and processes require contractors achieve an educational standard and annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
The Victoria Residential Builders Association was a key player in establishing the mandatory education and training for a BC Builders Licence required to build new homes.
This is in the interests of professionalism and consumer protection.
In pursuit of ongoing education and professionalism, the Victoria Residential Builders Association (VRBA) announces a new partnership with the Professional Home Builders Institute (PHBI) at phbi.ca/bc.
Since 1987, PHBI has kept pace with the residential construction industry’s ever-changing needs by designing and delivering practical education created by builders.
PHBI delivers the full suite of the seven core competencies required for a Builders Licence in BC. These include:
- Building Code and Relevant Enactments
- Business and Management Fundamentals
- Construction Management and Supervision
- Construction Technology
- Customer Service and Home Warranty
- Financial Planning and Budget Management
- Legal Issues
VRBA members receive a 15% discount on these courses, as well as the CPD courses required for an annual valid BC Builders Licence.
If you are considering becoming a licensed builder and looking for a wide array of CPD courses at discount prices, consider joining the VRBA.
In addition to the PHBI courses, we hold free monthly Builders Council presentations on Zoom, approved for CPD by BC Housing.
Our members also include industry expert/educator Murray Frank and his Building It Right courses, paving the way in building science and other CPD education at buildingitright.com.
